Alfama

Alfama is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Lisbon and was founded by the Arabs who gave it the name “Al-hama”, which means ‘source of warm waters, good waters’. You can’t live a genuine experience in Lisbon without getting lost among the alleys and charms of the neighborhood that is considered the heart of the city. Walking through the cluttered and narrow streets of Alfama, you’ll feel like you’re in a small village and witness conversations between neighbors, hear the fado echoing through the stairs and still see the Tagus in another dimension.

How to get there:
16min. Go to Martim Moniz by metro(green line), then walk there on foot.
